Enrolling your child

The first step of the enrollment process takes place online through the Infinite Campus Online Registration system. Use one of the following pre-registration buttons to complete the first step of the enrollment process. Make sure to review ALL information on this page prior to beginning the pre-registration process for your student.

Steps to complete Transition Plus registration if outside District 196

1 - Find your student's attendance area school

Use the school attendance area locator tool or call 651-423-7640 to locate your student’s attendance area school.

Attending a District 196 school if I live outside of the district

502.2P Attendance Priorities for Transfer Students provides an explanation about the open enrollment process. Open Enrollment Applications to attend a school in different Minnesota School District other than the one you live in are due by January 15 for the following school year.

3 - Complete K-12+ Pre-registration Checklist

K-12+ Pre-Registration Completion Checklist

After completing the online pre-registration your student's school will contact you to set up a time for you to bring the following items into school and complete K-12+ registration.*

A birth certificate, passport or other evidence of your student’s age.
A copy of your student’s current immunization record, medical exemption or conscientious objection.
The completed Minnesota Language Survey.

- Somali
- Use search tool at top of page using key words 'Minnesota Language' to find this form in languages other than English.
Proof of Legal Guardianship. If parents or a third party are the legal guardian of the student, provide Court Guardianship documents. If the student is their own guardian, inform the school.

Annually Required Forms

The following forms and Campus updates are required at the beginning of each academic year.

Student Census

Census data is required to enroll your student into District 196. It also helps ensure an accurate count of district residents which is used to forecast future school attendance growth and boundary information.
